Mississippi Association of Supervisors (MAS) Internship Program

The Mississippi Association of Supervisors has developed a new internship program that will begin January 2010.

The internship program is designed to assist college students in gaining work related experience in the areas of county government, public policy, business, and convention and meeting planning.

The benefit to having an MAS internship program is twofold: one, interns provide a great service  to the Association by assisting with projects and tasks and two, the program will provide an opportunity to teach a new generation about the function and capabilities of county government. Students participating in the internship program will perform many vital tasks at MAS. The duties and responsibilities will vary, from providing research assistance and conducting surveys to assisting staff with administrative duties. The job descriptions of each intern will differ depending on the time of year the student participates in our program. For example, interns working during the legislative session will assist the MAS policy staff by tracking bills and attending committee meetings, whereas summer interns will be more focused on research projects and the planning and organization of meetings.

There will be three MAS internships offered each year with each lasting 3 to 4 months. Internship recipients will be required to work 40 hours per week and will be paid an hourly wage. To be considered for an internship, applicants must have maintained a 3.0 or higher GPA and must be
a senior in college or a graduate student.
