Mississippi Residents Save Nearly $7 million on Prescriptions with Free Discount Program

July 2, 2014 – Jackson, MS – MAS, Mississippi’s Association of Supervisors, and the Coast2Coast Rx program have saved residents $6,924,211.83 million on their prescriptions with the Coast2Coast Rx card, a free discount prescription initiative. 

As of May 2014 the state of Mississippi has reached a total of $6,924, 211.83 million in savings on their prescriptions, and the number continues to climb. Madison County was the first county to adopt the program and has saved residents a staggering $2,027, 478.86 million on their prescriptions since its launch. Hinds and Yazoo counties follow in savings, nearing $2 million. The Coast2Coast Rx program has been launched in several additional counties since and more counties continue to launch each month.

“The Mississippi Association of Supervisors (MAS) is pleased to be working with the Coast2Coast Rx program to offer as important a service as lowering the cost of prescription drugs to Mississippi residents,” said MAS Executive Director Derrick Surrette. “Since we have joined forces with Coast2Coast Rx, the citizens of Mississippi have saved $6,924,211.83 on their prescription drugs using the free to sign up for, Coast2Coast Rx Card. County government is closest to the people, so any time we can provide a cost saving service to our citizens, it’s a good day.” The Mississippi Association of Supervisors has endorsed the Coast2Coast Rx program and encourages all Mississippi counties to participate.

The Coast2Coast Rx card allows all Mississippi residents, regardless of income, age, or health status to participate in the program and save on the cost of their medications.  The program has saved cardholders throughout the nation an average of 60 percent in 2013 on the cost of prescription drugs. The Rx card is distributed free of charge and may be used at all pharmacy chains and most independent pharmacies in Mississippi and includes over 60,000 drugs in its formulary.

The Coast2Coast Rx card is available to residents for print at www.coast2coastrx.com and http://www.mssupervisors.org/index.php The Coast2Coast Rx card is also available at county offices and local libraries in the following counties Adams, Coahoma, Forrest, Hinds, Jackson, Lauderdale, Leflore, Madison, Noxubee, Panola, Sharkey, Smith, Wayne, Winston, and Yazoo.
