MAS 2027 County Employee Scholarship Program
The 2027 MAS County Employee Scholarship Program is accepting applications through 4:00 p.m. on February 1, 2027. Review the application information below and choose one of the two submission options to apply.
How to Apply
Applicants may submit their complete scholarship application online through the MAS portal or submit the completed application and required documents to MAS by email, fax, or mail.
Before submitting, complete the 2027 County Employee Scholarship Application and gather all required supporting materials.
- Complete the 2027 County Employee Scholarship Application Form.
- Provide a letter or transcript on school letterhead clearly showing the applicant's cumulative GPA.
- Provide a letter on county letterhead verifying the employment or retirement of the applicant's eligible Sponsor.
- Include the required typed essay of up to 750 words.
- Submit the complete application packet to MAS no later than 4:00 p.m. on February 1, 2027.

2027 Scholarship Awards
MAS has expanded the program for 2027 to provide up to 151 scholarships statewide. Each scholarship award is $500.
Non-MASIT Counties
Up to two $500 scholarships may be awarded.
MASIT Counties
Up to four $500 scholarships may be awarded.
Awards are based on county participation in the Mississippi Association of Supervisors and MAS Insurance Trust (MASIT).
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet all applicable eligibility requirements:
- Eligible Sponsor: The applicant must identify an eligible Sponsor. A Sponsor may be the applicant, the applicant's spouse, or a family member — such as a parent, stepparent, grandparent, legal guardian, sibling, aunt, uncle, or other family member — who is currently employed by or retired from Mississippi county government.
- Elected county officials, current or retired, are not eligible Sponsors.
- Applicant must be a legal resident of the State of Mississippi.
- Applicant must have a minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
- Applicant must demonstrate community or civic involvement.
- Applicant must attend an accredited Mississippi college, university, community college, junior college, or technical/trade school for the Fall 2027 semester.
- Eligible Mississippi institutions may be public or private.
- New for 2027: An applicant may receive an MAS County Employee Scholarship up to two times.
- If awarded, the applicant must sign a Statement of Intent confirming plans to attend an eligible school. The Statement of Intent must be returned by August 1, 2027 or the scholarship will be forfeited.

1) What is the MAS County Employee Scholarship Program?
The Mississippi Association of Supervisors County Employee Scholarship Program provides $500 scholarships to eligible students attending qualifying Mississippi colleges, universities, community or junior colleges, and technical/trade schools.
2) When can I apply?
Applications for the 2027 scholarship cycle are being accepted from October 1, 2026 through February 1, 2027. Complete application packets must be received by MAS no later than 4:00 p.m. on February 1, 2027.
3) Who can serve as my Sponsor?
A Sponsor may be the applicant, the applicant's spouse, or a family member who is currently employed by or retired from Mississippi county government. Examples include a parent, stepparent, grandparent, legal guardian, sibling, aunt, or uncle. Current or retired elected county officials are not eligible Sponsors.
4) What is the application deadline?
Complete application packets must be received by MAS no later than 4:00 p.m. on February 1, 2027. Late or incomplete submissions will not be considered.
5) What documents must I include with my application?
Applicants must submit the completed 2027 application form, proof of cumulative GPA on school letterhead or a transcript, a county employment/retirement verification letter for the Sponsor, and the required typed essay.
6) What schools qualify?
Applicants must attend an accredited Mississippi college, university, community or junior college, or technical/trade school during the Fall 2027 semester. The institution may be public or private.
7) I live in a different county than my Sponsor. Can I still apply?
Yes. The applicant's county information and the Sponsor's county information are collected separately as part of the application. Applicants should provide their permanent Mississippi county of residence and their Sponsor's county as requested on the application.
8) Are employees of county school districts, hospitals, or other county-owned entities eligible Sponsors?
The Sponsor must be currently employed by or retired from Mississippi county government. Applicants should contact MAS before applying if they are unsure whether a Sponsor's employment qualifies.
9) I applied previously but did not receive a scholarship. May I apply again?
Yes. Applicants may apply again as long as they continue to meet the program's eligibility requirements.
10) I previously received an MAS County Employee Scholarship. May I apply again?
Yes. New for 2027, an applicant may receive an MAS County Employee Scholarship up to two times.
11) How much is each scholarship?
Each scholarship award is $500. For 2027, MAS has expanded the program to provide up to 151 scholarships statewide.
12) How many scholarships are available in each county?
Scholarship availability is based on county participation in MAS and MAS Insurance Trust (MASIT). Non-MASIT counties may receive up to two scholarships, while MASIT counties may receive up to four scholarships.
